As the season is changing, I'm reminded of all the things I love about fall, and so many of those things revolve around food - pumpkin, mellowcreme pumpkins, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin donuts - you see a theme?
All pumpkin things aside, I always associate fall and winter with snacking. I feel the chill in the air and miss the days when I got to come home and have a snack while watching afternoon TV. I think Christmas time will be even harder, since I usually purchase bags of Dove promises on a pretty frequent basis throughout the season, and have 1, 2, or 12 in an evening.
A little desperate to recreate the joy of snacking on this diet, I scoured the internet for creative recipes. While searching I found this recipe for cookie dough butter.
Now seeing as I have had entire cheat days where the theme was essentially "eat all the cookie dough!!!" I of course was 100% in on making this recipe. I went to the store on my way home from work and picked up the almond butter, knowing that I had the rest of the ingredients already on hand.
I made the cookie dough butter, and was immediately disappointed. It's not the recipe's fault - I really don't know what I was expecting. I really just wanted to eat some cookie dough. And I dropped $10 on a jar of almond butter. I should have just used my own tough love phrase of "save it 'til Saturday" and had the real thing.
